There is only One Jesus and the words spoken by Jesus Christ about himself are unique and incomparable among religious leaders of the world’s religions:
1.1 Jesus claimed that he existed before he was ever born.
1) John 6:62 “Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?”
2) John 16:28 “I came from the Father and have entered the world; and again I am leaving the world and going to the Father”
3) John 8:23 “You are from below, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world”.
4) John 8:58 “Before Abraham was born I am (existed)”
5) John 17:5 “And now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world existed.”
1.2 Jesus claimed to have a unique relationship with God that no one else ever had. He is also called the “only begotten Son of God” a unique distinction.
1) Matthew 11:47 “No one knows the Father (God) but the Son, and no one knows the Son but the Father.” (exclusive relationship).
2) John 1:18 “No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the arms of the Father, He has explained Him.”
3) John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
1.3 Jesus claimed to have power over death and had power to raise the dead including over his own death.
1) John 5:25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, a time is coming and even now has arrived, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live”.
2) John 6:40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
3) John 10:18 “No one takes it (his life) from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
1.4 Jesus claimed that He could forgive sins whereas the Jewish leaders indicated that only God could forgive sins
1) Mark 2:5 “Son, your sins are forgiven.” But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking it over in their hearts, “Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins except God alone?”
1.5 Jesus claimed to be able to give eternal life. (starting now for those who believe …. not after death).
1) John 5:24 “Truly, Truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life and does not come into judgment. but has passed out of death into life.” (eternal life starts when you believe….. here and now….. not after you die according to what Jesus said.)\
2) John 10:28 “And I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish.”
3) John 6:40 “For this is the will of the Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes on Him will have eternal life, and I myself will raise him up on the last day.”
4) John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me”.
1.6 Jesus claimed he had a position higher than any man, higher that any angel, and closest to God Himself (when speaking of His coming again to the earth). The claim is unique.
1) Mark 13:29 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
(There is a hierarchy here of increasing higher order……. starting with men, then angels, then the Son. As the Son, Jesus is above men and angels. Clearly closest to the Father).
1.7 Jesus claimed that he came to earth to give His life a ransom for many. His blood was poured out for forgiveness of sins (for many). No other religious world leader every claimed such things.
1) Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
2) Luke 19:10 “And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
3) Matt 26:27 “And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
